The support of Charitable Trusts over the years has enabled ExtraCare to initiate many pioneering new projects like our Well-being Programme and our Enriched Opportunities Programme. Such projects have benefited not only ExtraCare’s own residents, but have helped to develop knowledge and new ways of working which have had a very positive influence on standards across the care sector.
Donations and grants from Charitable Trusts have also been vital in the development of ExtraCare’s retirement villages over the last 10 years. These are providing older people with the highest quality of care and support. Charitable Trusts have helped to fund the social, community and healthcare facilities in our villages in Stoke-on-Trent, Warrington, St Helens, Lichfield, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Sheffield, Nottingham and Birmingham.
Charitable Trusts have also enabled us to provide vital pieces of equipment to enhance the care and support which our residents receive. Recently, for example, through the support of Trusts we have been able to provide fitness equipment which is accessible to people with very limited mobility. Other equipment funded by Trusts includes Stand-aid hoists, pressure relieving chairs and mattresses, lockable medical cabinets and special weigh scales.
